You mean 'rejoin'. I'm like Johnny Cash, or Trent Reznor--I fought off a fifteen year habit back when I was working at the airport. I am meaner and tougher than that Black Death.

*laughs* All right, fine, I'll quit with the pushing. :)

Oh no, you go ahead. Nestle up next to me, set your weight against me, and you push. I like it.

I went cold turkey on caffeine for six weeks, before settling back into a healthier routine of 1-2 serves per day. (I was previously up around the 20s.)

What helped me most was sugar. Lemonade, etc.
Just in case it helps.

I'm on the horns of a diabetic dilemna.
But I've made my own pit here--I just have to quit digging. (:
Thanks, man.

Ah gorrammit... sorry, I didn't realize. Guess I should read more carefully, eh? What worked for me clearly ain't going to cut it and I'm sure you've received nbillion bits of advice. Uhm... it gets better? :> Actually, that part is true: after the first couple weeks, I didn't need any crutch, I'd probably already kicked the habit and was just going the extra month to a) make sure and b) detox. I don't know how heavily you were dosing yourself previously, but hopefully it won't even take that long?

No worries. (: Plus, even if I can't use specifically what worked for you, I may be able to shape it. Carbs!
And it shouldn't take that long. I was expecting today to be okay, so now I'm expecting tomorrow to be okay. I'm gonna win. I'm meaner and crankier than it is.

I've been doing the fizzy water thing lately. With a twist of lime. The bubbles and citrus give you a bit of pep, while at the same time presenting the illusion of a cocktail. I usually down it with some naproxen to combat the caffeine withdrawal headache I know is coming.

It's hard, though...especially when there are ten different varieties of RockStar down the hall in the hospital cafeteria free for the taking.

I feel your pain.

In fact, that's how I got back on it. At work, trying to stay awake, and thinking "There's a Coke six steps around the corner. And it's ice cold. And it's free. And it will kick my ass."

I went cold turkey twenty years ago and I still get cravings for Cherry Coke now and again.

Oh yeah. The cravings never go away.
It's like the man at AA says. You are always a recovering Cokeaholic.
(Yay! I made a non-political post!)

How much caffeine are you trying to get off of?

Not much. A week's worth, one Coke every day.
I had the headaches yesterday, and today is mostly the craving.
