Remember last night when I said WTF?
I'd like to just repeat that here. WTF? Seriously WTFF?
The famous she's smiling on FaceBook so the rape can't have been that traumatic to her defence. Hand to God. I'm just glad that the court called 'bullshit'.

Standard practice, unfortunately. It's either that or the 'slut' defense: "Look at the video the teenage boys took while they drugged her unconscious and raped her multiple times, both themselves and with a bottle and a pool cue. See how she's shaved her pubic hair? Only a slut would do that. It must have been consensual."

Everyone's entitled to a defense...

Everyone is entitled to a defence. For some things, the defence is to promise that you serve some use to the human race and swear that you're going to make herculean efforts to improve yourself and make restitution wherever that's possible.

The defence you're entitled to is not "Hey, they'll probably buy this insane shit, and then you can walk, free as the air, despite being a repugnant piece of shit who taints the people around him with his mere presence."

But I may be biased. Against repugnant pieces of shit. I also may be more misanthropic than usual today.

The defense you're entitled to is whatever your defense attorney thinks will work. Although I sincerely doubt the attorney actually thought it would fly. Must've figured it'd be worth a shot, though.

You know that saying, "all's fair in love and war"? For moral purposes, the courtroom is roughly analogous to a battlefield.
